Spring Walks in and around Carshalton

Spring is in the air!

The bulbs are coming up and the days are getting longer once again. Spring can be a great time of year to make the most of the nature in and around our local area. We have drawn up a list of some of our favourite local family walks.

A few of our favourite walks in and around Carshalton:

The Grove Park 

A large pretty park in Carshalton, with 2 ponds and stream running through. Plenty of wildlife, squirrels, ducks, herons to name a few. The park also features a children’s playground with sandpit and café.

 Beddington Park & The Grange (2 miles from Carshalton)

A 58 Hectre Park across Beddington. The park dates back to the 14th century originating as a deer park for the Noble Carew family, whose Manor House is still in the park today. The park is one of the most rich and historical sites in South-West London. There is evidence of settlements dating back to the late bronze age. The park features a relaxing and tranquil area with picturesque woodland. There is also a pavilion café which serves breakfast, Lunches, tea and cakes.

Oaks Park (2.2 Miles from Carshalton)

Oaks park in Carshalton and was once the estate of the Earl of Derby. The park offers stunning natural chalk meadows as well as more informal parkland which is suitable for dog walking and children. There is also a café that is open 7 days a week.

Morden Hall Park (2.8 miles from Carshalton)

Morden Hall Park is a free entry National Trust park. It is situated on the river Wandle and is a great place to visit in Spring as it’s the swallows’ and herons’ nesting season. In summer you can see the rose garden that boasts over 2000 types of roses. In addition, there is a garden centre located in the park. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/morden-hall-park

Farthing Downs (5 miles from Carshalton)

The downs boast 235 acres of chalk grassland. The North Downs overlook the Redhill area. Happy Valley is a key highlight of the walk and the area is very popular for those who enjoy walking.

Epsom and Walton Downs (6 miles from Carshalton)

The downs offer 600 acres of unspoiled chalk upland. There are well marked paths and footways across the area. The area is renowned for its famous racecourse.
