Our guide to local events this Christmas

It’s a week to go until the big day and the Christmas madness is full swing! In our December blog we take a look at what local activities you can enjoy this Christmas with your family.

Shopping

Kingston Christmas Market, All Saints Church – Now open 10am-6pm Sunday-Wednesday and 10am-8pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Set on the front lawn of All Saints Church, and spreading through the ancient market place, Kingston’s Christmas market is running until the 31st December. Traditional wooden chalets will be selling hand made gifts, together with mulled wine and food. The carousel will be running together with other entertainment for children on the weekends.

Christmas walks

Christmas at Kew – Until 5 Jan
Enter a botanical wonderland after dark, strolling down along a one mile sparkling path flanked by fairy-tale avenues of flora and brightly coloured laser beams. Click here to book.

Christmas Glow, RHS Garden Wisley – light spectacular running until 5 Jan, 4-8pm.
Be dazzled by giant botanical-inspired light installations and see Wisley’s iconic trees and features all aglow! Enjoy an illuminated walk with fantastical flowers lighting your way and don’t miss the spectacular view of the iconic Laboratory all lit up. Click here to book.

Ice skating

Skate at Somerset House – open until 12 Jan.
London’s most beautiful ice rink returns with a 40ft Christmas tree. Stop by the Fortnum’s Christmas Arcade for seasonal shopping, enjoy gourmet dining in Fortnum’s Lodge, or soak up the rink atmosphere with a Baileys Hot Chocolate in hand at the Skate Lounge, home to the Baileys Treat Bar. Horse Carriage rides – Enjoy an enchanting carriage ride by the Palace’s Shire Horses, guided only by our lanterns. Enjoy the clip-clop of hooves, the wind blowing through the trees, the wood fire smell from the Tudor kitchens. Meet Father Christmas

Bocketts Farm – until 24 Dec.
Enjoy a day at the farm with the magic of meeting Father Christmas. You’ll start the Christmas journey with one of the elves, children will board the Santa express and travel in style to the magical workshop for some fun with the elves. They will finally meet Father Christmas and receive a golden coin to spend in his toy shop! Click here to book.
