Things to do this Summer around Carshalton and Sutton

Posted by: Carly Temple on 30th July 2021

With the summer holidays upon us, we thought it would be the perfect time to list some of the great activities and attractions around the Carshalton and Sutton area to keep you and your family entertained:

Richmond Park

Famous for its Royal status, Richmond Park is open all year round, but is particularly popular in the summer due to its vast open spaces and woodlands (covering an area of 2500 acres!). The Royal Park offers power kiting and horse riding, as well as bikes for hire to enjoy off-road cycling along their Tamsin Trail. Aside from more fast paced activities, Richmond Park has protected habitat status due to it being a National Nature Reserve which is home to deer, birds, bats and wildflowers. If Richmond Park sounds like a suitable attraction for you and your family, head to their website for all of the info.

Thames Ditton Miniature Railway

The miniature railway at Thames Ditton makes for a great day out with the little ones. All built to scale, the replica steam trains run on two different railways; one on the ground and one elevated. The railway is open for train rides on the first Sunday of every month throughout the summer – some days can get busy, but you can enjoy watching the trains run while you queue. With a picnic area in the centre of the tracks, why not take along a packed lunch and enjoy spotting all of the steam trains! For more information, follow this link.

Sutton High Street

I’m sure most of us are familiar with our local town centre of Sutton, but it’s often easy to forget the importance of supporting our fantastic local businesses. Pop down to Sutton High Street one day this summer for a bite to eat or refreshing drink at one of the town’s restaurants, patisseries, coffee shops or gastro pubs. You’ll find food from all around the world in Sutton centre, from European favourites such as French and Spanish to Asian flavours from Pakistan or Malaysia. There is also a wide range of shopping destinations, blended by a nice mix of popular retail chains and small, independent companies.

FootGolf Sutton

FootGolf has seen a mesmerising rise to popularity over recent years, and now the game which perfectly blends football and golf can be enjoyed in the area of Sutton. The course is open 7 days a week from 1pm to 2.40pm, and has 18 holes spread across 2086 yards to test your skill. Size 5 footballs are provided, so just take along some suitable trainers or football boots. If you’d prefer not to blend football with golf though, the centre also has standard golf, a driving range, fling golf and adventure golf to take part in. Follow the link to visit their website.

Oxygen Freejumping

Located in nearby Croydon is the state of the art, indoor freejumping and trampoline centre Oxygen Freejumping. This could well make for the kids’ favourite day out this summer, as the centre has 150 interconnected trampolines, a giant airbag, reaction walls, courts for dodgeball, basketball hoops for slam dunking and a mega foam pit. Oxygen Freejumping is open to all ages and trampolining abilities, and there are designated sessions for 0-5 year olds to keep them extra safe. For prices and to book your tickets, follow this link.

There you have it – a nice mix of local summer activities and attractions that would make for a wonderful summer day out in Carshalton, Sutton and beyond. From all of the Carshalton Boilers team, we hope you have a great summer break.
