Top tips for your Smart Thermostats

Posted by: Carly Temple on 28th October 2019

Smart Thermostats are a ‘thermostat device’ that connects to your internet, allowing you to control your heating and hot water through your mobile device or tablet, remotely. Here are our top tips for how to get the most out of your device.

Check your Settings

The Smart thermostat devices allow you to set a schedule, so you can set when you usually need your heating on. Ensure this fits with your life and the periods you will be at home needing the house to be warm.

Remote Control

Don’t forget that if you go away or leave the house for a period of time, and have forgotten to change your heating settings, you can remotely turn your heating off or lower the temperature, saving on your heating bill. In the same way on your return, you can turn your heating on, from your location, to make sure that your house is warm for your arrival.

Boost

There is also a boost option, meaning, should you be up earlier or return home before your usual schedule clicks in, then you can simply boost the heating through your Smart Thermostats to fire up your radiators for shorter periods.

Frosty mornings

Most devices have a frost setting, indicating that if the temperature in your house drops right down, your device with automatically turn your boiler on, to protect your pipes from freezing, saving you from wasting energy but also giving you the peace of mind that your house and pipes are protected.

Alexa

Some Smart devices are also compatible with the Amazon Echo or Google Home devices, allowing you even more convenience, to control your heating with your voice!
